January 2026

Hi everyone, here's an update on just one of the many extra curricular activities that happen here in Sacred Heart SNS.

Our school was invited by Creative Hut Ireland (Creative Hut – Creative Hut Ireland) to take part in the First Lego League (FIRST LEGO League | Global STEM Program) tournament. This is a world wide Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) tournament for children.

Amazon Ireland funded the Lego/robotics equipment & STEAM facilitators needed to take part in the tournament (AWS In Communities). STEAM facilitators, Niamh & Vince, from Creative Hut Ireland and Think Big Space South Dublin (Think Big South Dublin – Creative Hut Ireland) supported the children in building, assembling, designing and coding their Lego world and robot.

The children brought their LEGO creation to Amazon Headquarters and competed against schools from South Dublin. They worked hard as a team, supporting each other throughout. Each contributed unique skills, from building and coding to designing posters and presenting to judges. They were a credit to our school and community and they should be very proud of their teamwork and achievements.

Please enjoy the photos and videos below and a small summary written by team member Jemimah Olowu from 6th class.

Lego league was a wonderful experience, I really enjoyed it, especially since some of my friends were there too. My favourite was the coding because it was fun and interesting for me.

It was hosted in the amazon headquarters in Donnybrook, Dublin.

Our group name was pickle brick (WHICH I DID NOT AGREE ON BY THE WAY.

and our robot name was pickletron 3000 (WHICH MOST OF US AGREED WITH), anyway, I think it was very fun.

While we waited for our turn, we played with games that were there. we played ping pong and foosball. Later on, we got boxes with lunch and water, but most people brought their own lunch, including me. But Ms Jenkins had some snacks :0
