Seismology in Schools - Pilot Project

Clip needs Flash Player 7 or above

Seismology

Our school is one of the twenty schools in Ireland taking part in this project using the seismometer. The Seismometer measures seismic waves from an earthquake which make the ground move. The seismometer records this ground movement. It is connected to the computer in the Wendy House. We can see the records of the earth movement on the computer screen.

The latest earthquake that our seismometer recorded was in Greece on Saturday 13th of December 2008 at 08.27. It measured 5.3 on the Richter scale.
