Blue Friday….Up the Dubs!

Blue Friday….Up the Dubs!

On Friday the 18th of September we had Blue Friday in school. The children dressed up in something blue to support the Dublin team playing in the All Ireland on Sunday. The school is decorated with lots of blue flags and bunting , we did try and find some green and gold colours for Mrs Greene and Mr O’ Mahony but sadly there was none available in any of the Dublin shops. We’re all looking forward to the game on Sunday, we’d love to see Dublin win. ...

Gardening with Deirdre

On the 09/09/14 my class went gardening with Deirdre. We were doing hard work such as cleaning the garden, harvesting plants and digging up potatoes. We went out to the main garden and Mr. Abbott and Deirdre gave us tools like shears, shovels and rakes. We walked to the garden in 4th class and got cleaning. Some people were cutting the grass, raking and digging. We got spilt into three groups: Mr. Abbott, Deirdre and Ms. Keating. Deirdre’s group dug up the potatoes, Ms. Keating’s group cut the grass and raked it away and Mr. Abbott’s group cooked the potatoes. Mr....

Reading for Fun

Reading for Fun

Reading for fun has been up and running for the past 5 weeks in both 3rd and 4th class. The 3rd class children have been reading Roddy Doyle’s book ‘The Giggler Treatment’ and in 4th class the children have been reading ‘The Meanwhile Adventures’. Both books have proved to be very popular with the children and parents alike. The school is very grateful to all the parents who have volunteered to help out with reading for fun over the past number of weeks. In total we have had over 25 parents helping out in the school this term. This is great to see and the...

Maths for Fun!

Maths for Fun!

Maths for Fun went very smoothly again this year. The children loved it and gained a lot from playing maths and card games with an adult. We have a lot of excellent card players in 4th class now so adults beware! Thank you to the adults who took part. We suspect they had more fun at times than the children! Reading for Fun will be on in the New Year, in March at some stage. Please let the Home-school Teacher know if you are interested in working with the children on this.

Trip to the Wax Museum

Trip to the Wax Museum

Fourteen parents, Ms. Vaughan & Ms. Boyle from the Junior School went to the Wax Museum on Dame Street on 7th November. We had a great time and saw many famous wax faces from history, pop, tv and cinema. Some parents even managed to form a band in the Wax Factor room at the top of the building! Fun was had by all and it was topped off nicely by a cuppa in Starbucks afterwards. As usual let us know if you have any ideas for a Parents’ Trip or if you are interested in going on one.
