Thanks to all who took time to read our poems and either emailed or voted online for their favourites. The top three poems compiled from your votes are.
"Red" - Kerry O'Connell
"Noises" - George Scott
"Homework" - Shauna Curley
If you like the 2004 poems check out the entries and winners from 2003's Poetry Competition.
Homework
Homework, homework
Oh, how I hate homework.
I don’t have enough time to play.
But in the end I have to do it.
‘Cos I can’t think of excuses every day.

Christmas
I like Christmas it is so near.
When I open my presents I am full of cheer.
When I go outside I play in the snow.
Making snowballs I will throw.
Christmas dinner is so yummy
Jelly and ice cream in my tummy.
Eating lots and lots of sweets
I really love those Christmas treats.

Precious Pink
Pink is the colour of the sunset at night,
Pink is the colour of Turkish delight
Pink is the colour of a little girl’s dress
Pink is the colour that I love best
Pink is the colour of the lips that shine
Pink is the colour of sweets all mine
Pink is the colour of my cute poodle dog
Pink is the colour of a yummy marshmallow flog
So now that I told you
What I think, have a sit down
And think pink!

Santa
Santa is on the way.
And he comes to all the houses.
Now everyone is excited!
The decorations are up
And everyone loves Christmas.

Christmas Eve
Waiting for the day to end
Christmas is just around the bend
People rushing here and there
Everyone’s full of Christmas cheer.
People buying presents now
All the sales are going down
Hot chocolate beside the fire
Then Mam trips over
The Christmas tree wire.
Christmas lights all so bright
The Christmas tree is a nice sight
Christmas turkey in the oven
Next day to be eating and loving.
Sitting waiting just to say,
I can’t wait until Christmas Day.
