Native American Settlements

The Native Americans lived in a house called a tepee. It was made out of dried animal skins. The hole in the top of the tepee was to let out the smoke from the fire that they lit to keep warm because they did not have a fire place or central heating like us.

They made benches for their homes. In the village there were council houses with no windows. In the winter the family moved into smaller round windowless homes.

Their beds were made from soft and thick buffalo skin to make it soft. They also made rugs for their homes too!
