Welcome to Our Native Americans Homepage

The Native Americans are a race of people who came from Asia at the end of the Ice Age across a land bridge to America which is now called the Bering Strait. They called America ‘Land of the Big Sky’ when they arrived there. Native Americans were nomadic people. This means they travelled from place to place instead of settling in one place for their whole lives. They lived in tribes and there was usually a chief to lead the tribe. The most famous tribes we have heard of are the Sioux tribe, Cherokee tribe, the Algonquins, Apache. In the 1400’s Europeans came to America to discover new land. They called it  ‘The New World’
