Green Flag Award Ceremony
As you may remember from last year our school was awarded the Green Flag for Environmental Excellence in the area of recycling and waste management.
Tuesday October 17th was the day Sacred Heart SNS flew the Green Flag for the first time. The flag was raised by the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Mr. Eamonn Moloney, in the company of pupils, parents and staff members of the school. The Mayor praised the work of the Green School Committees, this year's and last year's, and the coordinators Mr. Abbott and Ms. Ruane. He explained that the school has reached a very high standard and encouraged the children to do everything they can to keep their area and their school as tidy and as safe as possible. He told the children they should be very proud of what they had achieved.

The first flag to be raised was the Irish flag, which takes centre place on the way into the school. The honour of being the first person to raise the Irish flag fell to Paul Smith from third class, who was selected as the youngest member of the Student Council. Our Green flag will fly proudly above the school to signify the efforts of all our pupils and our special commitment to taking care of our environment. We hope that the flags now flying in the school will remind everybody to be proud of their school, their community and their country.
