World Book Day 2004

March 4th 2004

During the day every class undertook a variety of book related activities. For instance one third class had a novel P.E. lesson with instructions for each activity being read at each station. Also other pupils created their own word searches.
Junior school pupils were invited across to hear stories read aloud by third class whilst fifth class focused on fact finding missions based on the highly informative Dorling Kindersley Eyewitness non-fiction series. Sixth class pupils took part in paired reading activities with third class.
Fourth class enjoyed big books like ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘Hanna’s Hen’ and ‘Six Dinner Sid’. Other activities included word bingo, story puzzles, book reviews, character profiles, story sequencing and drama.
Our annual library competition was also launched on the day. Students are encouraged to compile their own class book of reviews. In addition children can design their own book cover of a favourite title read. Winning entries in both categories will be displayed in the school library as well as being featured on the school website so watch this space.
